Others, like the Gilligan Golf Churchill Original, are meant to be the foundation of an entire lifestyle. Born from three generations of a family steeped in both golf and cigars, Gilligan Golf decided to launch not with apparel, equipment, or merch—but with a cigar. Bold. Confident. Certain that great things can only grow from great tobacco. When I was first introduced to the project, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Another golf brand? Another lifestyle angle? But then I smoked it. I’m not a golfer myself, but immediately I could see it—the perfect cigar for the course. Steady burn. Balanced flavor. A richness that keeps you focused and a complexity that rewards every pause between swings. The family behind Gilligan Golf wasn’t interested in shortcuts. They worked for years to ensure consistency and enjoyment, the kind of cigar that could define a brand. And with the Churchill Original, they’ve done it. Flavor Journey First Third: Peanut butter richness mingles with black pepper, cedar, cream, and cocoa butter. Accents of hay, berry tea, and a surprising banana mofongo note create intrigue. Second Third: The cigar smooths into cedar, white pepper, cream, and a delicate dried pear sweetness. Balanced, velvety, and refined. Final Third: The finale is golden and complex—golden raisins, strong white pepper, cream, oak, golden cereal, graham, agave, wheat bread, florals like white jasmine, and fruit tea. A crescendo of richness with tannic grip and lingering cedar. Why It Belongs in Privada The Gilligan Golf Churchill Original isn’t just a cigar—it’s a mission statement. A family declaring that true lifestyle brands begin with authenticity, and nothing is more authentic than tobacco aged, tested, and perfected for the long game. This stick doesn’t just smoke well—it represents dedication, tradition, and vision.

Happiness Size: 6×50 ToroVitola: ToroWrapper: Mexican San AndrésBinder: DominicanFillers: Nicaraguan, DominicanFlavor Notes: Earthy sweetness, cocoa, cedar, subtle spice, molasses, roasted nutsPairing Notes: Mexican hot chocolate, spiced rum, café de olla, or a malty stoutManufacturer: Privada Exclusive Production Privada Storytelling The Happiness cigar is the joyful finale in the Peace, Love, and Happiness trilogy. Where Peace and Love told their stories through other wrappers, Happiness elevates the series with the bold richness of a Mexican San Andrés leaf. This wrapper transforms the shared Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers into something altogether new — darker, sweeter, and more complex. It’s a reminder of how one small detail can completely change the journey, much like a shift in perspective can redefine life itself. With Happiness, the wrapper becomes the voice of transformation, turning familiar notes into something extraordinary. Flavor Journey From the first draw, earthy sweetness and cocoa ground the profile, followed by cedar and a gentle spice. Midway, molasses richness and roasted nuts appear, adding weight and depth. The final third ties it all together with balance and warmth — the perfect close to the trilogy. Why It Belongs in Privada Privada thrives on storytelling and education through experience. Happiness shows how dramatically a wrapper can alter the flavor of a cigar, creating an entirely different personality from the same foundation. It’s both a lesson in blending and a celebration of joy, crafted for those who appreciate discovery.

It’s where the lines between collector, blender, and storyteller blur. Every month, Brian Desind—Privada’s founder and unapologetic cigar evangelist—assembles a box that reflects his personal journey through the world of rare tobacco. These are not “staff picks.” These are obsessions, confessions, and provocations in cigar form. Each box is built around a concept—sometimes a mood, sometimes a farm, sometimes a rebellion. From forgotten factory blends to undiscovered masterpieces, from LCA sleeper hits to Desind’s personal stash aged in vaults for years, Brian’s Box is where the mythos of Privada lives loudest. Flavor Journey There is no one journey across Brian’s Boxes—and that’s the magic. One box may hit you with Nicaraguan power, another with Dominican silk. One may deliver three versions of the same blend wrapped in Connecticut, Habano, and Maduro to teach you about wrapper impact. Another might explore Cuban profiles through the lens of lost family farms. Every puff in Brian’s Box is designed to challenge, teach, and surprise—even the seasoned aficionado. Why It Belongs in Privada Because Brian’s Box is Privada distilled. It’s fearless. It’s intellectual. It’s experimental. It’s everything the traditional cigar world told us not to do—released anyway. These boxes aren’t built to please everyone. They’re built to wake up palates, to elevate cigar knowledge, and to deliver an experience no other club would dare offer. If the Monthly Box is our rhythm, Brian’s Box is our improvisation.

Fuego is art. Fuego is heat. Born from Nicaragua’s volcanic soils and sparked by the imagination of Australian pop mash artist Aaron Craig, Fuego is where craftsmanship and creativity collide. This is more than a cigar — it’s an idea lit aflame. AJ Fernández, the legendary master of tobacco, crafted this blend at his Tabacalera Annex, building it entirely from his own Nicaraguan-grown tobaccos. Wrapped in silky Connecticut Shade and box-pressed to perfection, Fuego carries both refinement and fire. It’s smooth enough for newcomers yet layered enough to captivate the seasoned aficionado. And like Craig’s artwork, it refuses to sit quietly — every puff feels alive, daring you to taste something new. Flavor Journey From the first spark, creamy vanilla and toasted almond set the stage. Red pepper flickers through, adding energy without overwhelming. Midway, citrus peel brightens the profile, dancing alongside warm cedar. By the final third, the flavors converge into a balanced crescendo: sweet, spicy, nutty, and undeniably smooth. Fuego lives up to its name with a profile that’s both bold and approachable. Why It Belongs in Privada Privada exists to bring together culture, creativity, and craftsmanship — and Fuego is the embodiment of all three. A blend perfected by AJ, presented through the lens of a contemporary artist, and finished with collector’s flair, it is both a cigar and an event. Fuego stands as proof that cigars can be equal parts tradition and rebellion, luxury and play.

Montenegro President Series Cordial Aged 6+ Years Size: 5 1/2×53Vitola: Robusto ExtraWrapper: Undisclosed (Montenegro estate-grown, organic)Binder: Undisclosed (Montenegro estate-grown, organic)Fillers: Proprietary blend of Nicaraguan tobaccos grown under the direction of Hector Luis PrietoFlavor Notes: Agave nectar, rawhide, sesame oil, jalapeño spice, mint leaf, cherry blossom, craisin, white chocolate, tamarindPairing Notes: Over-proof rye bourbon, mint tea with honey, fatty steak, salmon, flan, Jamaican beef patties, orange soda, Tootsie RollsManufacturer: Montenegro Cigars Privada Storytelling Montenegro has built its legend on mystery, patience, and the steady hand of one of Cuba’s greatest growers, Héctor Luis Prieto. When I first smoked their Batista, it was clear this brand was different. But I wanted to know why. After shared meals and long conversations at the Grand Havana Room, the secret surfaced: Prieto not only helped establish Montenegro’s organic farm but brought with him seeds from Cuba’s hallowed soils. He visits Nicaragua twice a year, still tasting the soil itself to determine its quality—a practice as unorthodox as it is brilliant. The President Series Cordial carries this legacy. While the Batista was an elegant revelation, the Cordial is wilder, zestier, unapologetically bold. It is a cigar that embodies Prieto’s fearless farming philosophy and Montenegro’s unwavering dedication to long-term aging. Six years of rest has honed its flavors into something both refined and primal—a smoke that balances rawhide earthiness with perfumed florals and decadent sweetness. Flavor Journey First Third: Opens with sweet agave nectar, rawhide, sesame oil, and sugarcane. Red pepper oil lights up the retrohale, delivering a jalapeño-like zing. Smoke is oily, like olive oil, with flashes of mint leaf and curry spice. Herbal parsley and tree bark deepen the rawhide base. Second Third: The profile evolves into mint leaves, maple syrup, agave, dried oregano, and floral perfume—cherry blossom with hints of berry. Wagyu-like fattiness meets Korean BBQ and sesame, offering a savory depth that contrasts beautifully with the sweet and herbal tones. Final Third: White pepper and mint leaf dominate, accented by cherry blossom, craisin, and tamarind. Sweetness lingers with notes of raisin and white chocolate. The rawhide foundation persists, adding rustic weight to an otherwise elegant close. Why It Belongs in Privada The Cordial is proof that Montenegro is more than hype—it’s heritage, craft, and time woven into every puff. With Hector Luis Prieto’s Cuban legacy guiding the farm, Montenegro stands at the pinnacle of boutique luxury. The Cordial isn’t just a cigar, it’s a conversation between Cuba’s soul and Nicaragua’s soil, aged six years to perfection.

Series) Privada Storytelling The W.A. Field Scout is the seventh entry in our Wes Anderson-inspired series and perhaps its crown jewel. Drawing on the whimsical, nostalgic spirit of Moonrise Kingdom, this cigar captures the adventurous essence of a youthful scout exploring uncharted territory. Aged for over a year and a half, the Field Scout is proof of what’s possible when passion, imagination, and AJ Fernandez’s mastery collide. What once seemed impossible—having AJ helm a dedicated Privada project—has now become reality. The Field Scout isn’t just another cigar in the W.A. series; it’s a declaration of how far Privada has come. This is edutainment in its purest form: a cigar as a story, a story as a cigar. Flavor Journey First Third: Bursts of apricot, citrus, cedar, and cinnamon awaken the senses, with cocoa powder weaving in and out. A soda-like nuance recalls the warmth of Mexican hot chocolate. The retrohale introduces creamy spice and red pepper, bright and invigorating. Second Third: A tapestry unfolds—apricot, chocolate, cherry cola, cedar, and cream, accented by sea salt and cocoa butter. Honey and roasted nuts enrich the midsection, while black pepper sharpens the finish. Final Third: The experience crescendos with roasted nuts, cocoa butter, apricot, red pepper, and cedar. Sweet honey and cream balance the spice, delivering a bold, bright finale that lingers with sophistication. Why It Belongs in Privada The W.A. Field Scout embodies Privada’s mission: storytelling through tobacco. It honors Wes Anderson’s artistry, reflects AJ Fernandez’s genius, and demonstrates how creative vision can transform the cigar world. This cigar is both whimsical and serious, nostalgic and modern—a perfect encapsulation of the Privada ethos. For collectors, dreamers, and lovers of flavor, the Field Scout is a must.

Reserva Rojas Aged 2+ Years Size: 5×52 RobustoWrapper: Ecuadorian HabanoBinder: Ecuadorian HabanoFillers: Estelí, Jalapa, and EspecialFlavor Notes: Toast, cedar, hazelnut, black coffee, molasses, root sarsaparilla, cream, roasted nuts, earthy wood, smoky charcoalPairing Notes: Toasted brioche with hazelnut spread, pancetta-wrapped figs, blue cheese, dark rum, espresso martini, aged tequila, sherry, amarone, zinfandel, coffee porter, stout, English brown ale, panna cotta, molasses cookies, hazelnut gelatoManufacturer: Rojas Cigars (Nicaragua) Privada Storytelling Two years ago, I reached out to my good friend Noel Rojas, asking him to craft something deeply personal—a cigar that would capture the essence of one of my favorite Cubans, the Partagas No. 4. Noel, known as the "King of Small Gauge," is a master blender whose reputation has only grown in the past few years. Together, we set out to create something that would not just echo Cuban tradition but elevate it with Nicaraguan soul. We tucked these cigars away in coolers, letting them rest and age quietly. For two long years, they transformed in the shadows—each leaf marrying with the others, flavors deepening, textures softening, and complexity blooming. When I finally lit one after the wait, I knew Noel had given me more than just a cigar. He had given me a memory, a reminder of why we do this—to create timeless experiences that connect people through craft and culture. Flavor Journey First Third: Sweet syrup and cedar layer over hazelnut, toast, black coffee, molasses, and even a root-like sarsaparilla note. A bold, almost nostalgic opening. Second Third: The sweetness fades into cedar and tree bark, bringing an earthy core. Toast and roasted nuts remain, while herbal and medicinal undertones add depth. Creaminess intensifies, and the retrohale blooms with white pepper creaminess. Final Third: Roasted nuts rise again, joined by black coffee and earthy tones. The finale is marked by a smoky charcoal finish, leaving behind a robust and memorable aftertaste. Why It Belongs in Privada The Reserva Rojas is a perfect example of why Privada exists. It’s a collaboration between friends who live and breathe tobacco, a cigar aged patiently until the time was right. It’s also proof that boutique blending, when paired with time, can rival the classics. This cigar belongs in Privada because it represents loyalty, craftsmanship, and the pursuit of perfection in every puff.

Born entirely from the 2019 harvest of Cuban-seed Corojo grown on Christian Eiroa’s farms in Honduras, this cigar embodies the philosophy of single-year, single-farm purity. The concept allows us to taste how the conditions of a particular growing season—its rainfall, its sun, its soil—impart their own fingerprint onto the leaf. While the 2021 and 2022 releases share the same recipe, they smoke as two different stories—proof of nature’s subtle influence over tobacco. Each puff is a reminder that cigars are not factory-made commodities, but living expressions of time, place, and craft. This Reserva release shows Eiroa’s mastery and willingness to open his vaults of carefully aged leaf, a gesture of trust and authenticity that elevates the Limited Cigar Association’s mission to new heights. Flavor Journey First Third: Opens with sweet cedar and toasted nuts, layered with a delicate honey-like sweetness. The retrohale offers a kick of red pepper and citrus zest, awakening the palate. Second Third: Creaminess builds, with notes of vanilla, roasted nuts, and subtle oak. The smoke becomes thicker, almost buttery, while a light pepper undertone keeps the balance. Final Third: The profile deepens into rich cedar, honeycomb, and earth with lingering spice. A warm finish of citrus peel and roasted almonds closes the journey on a refined note. Why It Belongs in Privada This cigar is the embodiment of Privada’s mission: rarity, craftsmanship, and narrative. With every LCA Vintage Reserva, we give our members the rare chance to taste the nuances of a single farm’s crop from a single year. It’s an experience that most cigar smokers will never encounter, and it reminds us that cigar smoking is about more than indulgence—it’s about connection to the earth, to time, and to heritage.

Inspired by Raekwon and Ghostface Killah’s masterpiece, this cigar brings that same rawness and poetry into tobacco form. Rolled at IGM Cigars in Costa Rica, the same house responsible for the revered Cuban Link, it stands as proof that when culture meets craft, the result is unforgettable. Aged over 5 years, the blend has settled into a rare balance of strength and smoothness, much like the iconic verses that still echo decades later. This cigar isn’t about flashy branding or gimmicks—it’s about respecting legacy, paying tribute, and savoring a smoke that carries the spirit of resilience and artistry. Flavor Journey The first third opens with earth, cedar, and cocoa, layered over subtle leather and toasted spice. The smoke is velvety yet bold, offering the kind of grit that keeps you locked in from the very first draw. As the second third develops, the profile evolves into baking spices, cinnamon, and nutmeg, met with a subtle sweetness reminiscent of dried figs. A citrus zest lingers on the finish, keeping the palate alive and engaged. In the final third, the cigar deepens into aged wood, espresso, and dark chocolate, all underscored by a steady hum of pepper and mineral richness. The balance of strength and nuance makes every puff a reminder of its long, patient aging. Why It Belongs in Privada Like the album it honors, Incarcerated Scarface is a landmark—bold, unapologetic, and rooted in authenticity. This is Privada at its finest: uncovering cigars that defy the ordinary, celebrate culture, and bring collectors a piece of history. With its Costa Rican craftsmanship, rare aging, and cultural tie-ins, it’s a cigar that will never be repeated, making it as collectible as it is smokeable.

Where Peace revealed the elegance of Ecuadorian Habano, Love steps deeper into richness with its luxurious Ecuadorian Habano Maduro wrapper. This wrapper transforms the shared binder and filler blend into something darker, sweeter, and more indulgent. True to its name, Love envelopes the smoker in warmth and richness, proving how a single shift in leaf can completely redefine the experience. It’s a study in contrasts and harmony, as sweetness softens spice and depth balances brightness. Flavor Journey The first third opens with cocoa and cedar layered over earthy sweetness. Midway, leather and molasses emerge, accented by dried fruit for a hint of natural sweetness. In the final third, baking spices rise alongside a lingering richness, finishing with balance and complexity. Why It Belongs in Privada Privada is about storytelling through the leaf, and Love perfectly embodies that mission. It demonstrates how wrapper choice can transform not only flavor, but the entire personality of a cigar. As the heart of the trilogy, Love shows that exploration of nuance is just as exciting as discovering new blends altogether.

One of the most viral cigars in Privada history, the original Bucket shocked the world when it started fetching $450 for a ten-pack on the grey market. That hype became legend, and the requests for a return have been nonstop ever since. Now, Privada delivers—this time through our new collaboration with AJ Fernandez at the Tabacalera Privada Annex in downtown Estelí, Nicaragua. The Privada Bucket 8 Count isn’t just a revival—it’s a reinvention. This blend is light years ahead of its predecessors, marrying nostalgia with innovation. Just as fried chicken brings people together at the table, the Bucket unites community, flavor, and pure indulgence in cigar form. Think of it as a playful nod to comfort food, reimagined with the craftsmanship of one of the world’s greatest blenders. Flavor Journey First Third: Red pepper and cedar light up the palate, joined by charred wood, rosemary, ginger, and tamarind. Creamy smoke builds, while the retrohale delivers ginger spice and a slight lemon twist. A surprising sweetness lingers, with hints of birch beer and cinnamon sticks adding intrigue. Second Third: Orange cream notes emerge, balanced by cedar, red pepper, horseradish, and a touch of fried-food nostalgia that only Privada would dare to capture in tobacco form. Retrohale shifts to white pepper, woody and bright, with lemon-lime soda undertones that keep things playful and refreshing. Final Third: The cigar crescendos with white pepper, charred oak, lime zest, vanilla cream, and ginger. A clean, zesty finish leaves a lasting impression of both richness and originality. Why It Belongs in Privada The Bucket is part of Privada history. It represents our ability to create cigars that transcend tobacco and enter cultural conversation. By collaborating with AJ Fernandez, we’ve taken a once-viral phenomenon and elevated it into something timeless. This release is not about hype—it’s about heritage, playfulness, and innovation, delivered in a way only Privada can.

AJ Fernandez Scrooge Aged 2+ Years Size: 7×40Vitola: LanceroWrapper: Nicaraguan HabanoBinder: JalapaFillers: Estelí, NicaraguaFlavor Notes: Spicy honey, cedar, apricot, mocha, cinnamon fireball, cream, sesame oilPairing Notes: Bourbon, apricot tea, Miller Lite, Fireball whiskey, caramel candies, Riesen chocolate, after spicy meals (avoid tomato-based foods)Manufacturer: AJ Fernandez Cigars (Nicaragua) Privada Storytelling April is that strange time between winter’s chill and summer’s scorch, when the rain feels like a reset. And what better way to mark the season than with a lancero that embodies both power and finesse? The AJ Fernandez Scrooge Aged 2+ Years is our quarterly nod to the lancero lovers out there, but this one carries a special weight. Crafted by the youngest-ever recipient of Cigar Journal’s Lifetime Achievement Award, AJ Fernandez himself, this cigar shows why Nicaragua has claimed its throne as the modern cigar capital. The band art takes a nostalgic turn, reminding us of illustrated tales from childhood—ironic, given this cigar is anything but child’s play. It’s bold, deeply satisfying, and designed for the evening: the close of a long day, a hearty meal behind you, and a good whiskey in hand. This is the cigar you light when you want a moment to feel bigger than life, a reminder that tobacco is not just plant and paper—it’s story, memory, and mastery rolled together. Flavor Journey First Third: Opens with a surprising spicy honey note, accented by graham cracker sweetness, red pepper bite, apricot tang, and a hint of sesame seed oil. The retrohale pushes black pepper with a faint charcoal-like peatiness. Second Third: Cream and cedar dominate now, with mocha sliding in to enrich the texture. Red pepper remains persistent, balanced by apricot’s sharp fruitiness. A finish of cinnamon heat—like fireball candy—adds a playful kick. Final Third: Apricot resurfaces, entwined with black pepper, cream, and aged cedar. The profile closes with a deep, satisfying “cedar room” flavor, unique and unforgettable, like walking into a perfectly seasoned aging room. Why It Belongs in Privada Scrooge is more than a lancero—it’s proof of AJ Fernandez’s artistry, a window into the core of what makes Nicaraguan tobacco so revered worldwide. Aged two years to achieve perfect balance, it carries strength, sweetness, spice, and soul in every puff. This is the type of cigar that turns casual smokers into collectors and seasoned aficionados into believers.

Not Tony by Jochy Blanco Aged 3 Years (Redux) Size: 6×50 ToroVitola: ToroWrapper: Dominican HabanoBinder: HVAFillers: Dominican, PeruvianFlavor Notes: Sesame seed oil, cedar, honey-roasted almond, candied ginger, unripe mango, smoked paprika, menthol, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, bourbon barrel, cinnamon, molasses, crème de menthePairing Notes: Black coffee, earl grey tea, bourbon, aged rum, tawny port, cognac, dark chocolate, chocolate-covered almonds, charcuterie board, roasted nuts, caramel desserts, creamy pastries, candied ginger, grilled meatsManufacturer: Jochy Blanco, Tabacalera Palma (Dominican Republic) Privada Storytelling Few cigars capture the essence of Privada’s rebellious spirit like Not Tony. Originally released as part of the infamous Sharpie Series, its name became the center of legal tension, but its identity never faltered. What matters most has always been the leaf—and here, the leaf tells a story. Jochy Blanco, a master of Dominican tobacco with a lineage steeped in legacy, put his touch on this project, weaving together Dominican richness with a hint of Peruvian intrigue. For three years, these cigars have been resting under Privada’s watchful aging process, evolving, deepening, and becoming something entirely unique. The sweetness that first put this cigar on the map is still present, but now it carries a spicier, more mature edge—like a jazz riff that’s been played a thousand times and somehow gets better with every note. This redux is more than a re-release. It’s a testament to what happens when patience, tradition, and defiance converge. Privada brings you back to the roots of its cult legacy, with a cigar destined not only to be smoked but to be remembered. Flavor Journey First Third: Opens with sesame seed oil, cedar, white flowers, and black pepper. A flash of horseradish and candied ginger gives the profile a sharp edge, while unripe mango adds a tart intrigue. The smoke is oily and light, carrying an almost bacon-like satisfaction. Retrohale delivers a warm ribbon of cinnamon. Second Third: The profile transitions into honey-roasted almonds, smoked paprika, sea salt, and aged cedar. Black pepper lingers while menthol adds cooling balance. Dark chocolate, tree sap, and bourbon notes meld with the cedar, creating a layered richness both earthy and refined. Final Third: Sweet woods and milk chocolate dominate, enriched by cinnamon, crème de menthe, and faint bourbon barrel. Musty olor—a signature of elite Dominican blends—appears, wrapping the experience in old-world depth. Powdery, creamy smoke leaves a lasting impression of luxury and craft. Why It Belongs in Privada Not Tony was never just a cigar; it was a movement. From the Sharpie Series to its redux after three years of Privada-controlled aging, this release embodies everything Privada stands for: boundary-pushing creativity, uncompromising quality, and the preservation of rare artistry. By placing this cigar back in your hands, Privada cements its role as curator of not only fine tobacco, but of cultural touchpoints in modern cigar history.

Blackbird Cigar Co. Caballo 500 Lonsdale Size: 7×44Vitola: LonsdaleWrapper: SumatranBinder: NicaraguanFillers: Dominican RepublicFlavor Notes: Apricot jam, cedar, lime zest, cilantro, roasted nuts, graham cracker, black pepper, cream, vanilla, lemongrassPairing Notes: Apricot-glazed pork, salted peanut brittle, lemongrass chicken, vanilla bean ice cream with black pepper, lemon oak-aged white wine, cream cocktailsManufacturer: Blackbird Cigar Co. (Dominican Republic) Privada Storytelling The Caballo 500 Lonsdale is named for Papo, a legendary torcedor known at Davidoff for rolling 500 cigars in a single eight-hour shift — a feat that earned him his place in cigar history. When Blackbird Cigar Co. opened its state-of-the-art factory, this became the very first cigar to roll off the tables, setting the standard for everything that would follow. This release proves that extraordinary craftsmanship can eliminate the need for extended aging. Balanced, flavorful, and bold, it demonstrates that when technique, precision, and artistry align, a cigar can speak for itself. The Caballo 500 isn’t just a cigar — it’s a testament to Dominican ingenuity and the perfection of the craft. Flavor Journey First Third: Opens with a surprising note of cilantro alongside cedar, lime essence without tartness, and salt — evoking Thai cuisine or a premium margarita. Accents of graham cracker, baker’s spices, and black pepper round out the complexity. Second Third: Flavors transition into lemongrass, roasted nuts, cream, vanilla, lemon, and oak. Each puff reveals variation, keeping the profile elevated and engaging. Final Third: A finale of fruits, breads, woods, and herbs develops, with recurring cedar, cream, and black pepper. The cilantro sensation returns, creating a fresh, layered conclusion. Why It Belongs in Privada The Caballo 500 Lonsdale belongs in Privada because it embodies innovation in the Dominican cigar tradition. It’s proof that greatness doesn’t always need decades of rest — sometimes it comes from the hands of a master roller, an ambitious new factory, and a willingness to craft something unlike anything else on the market. Privada brings it to you first, highlighting the cutting edge of flavor.

The man who has long collected the finest cognac, champagne, and cigars decided it was time to add one more delicacy to his repertoire: dessert cigars. Inspired by the macaron, Guillaume sought to craft cigars as refined and nuanced as the famous French confection. Each blend is rooted in a different cigar-producing country and tied to a macaron flavor, creating the Patisserie Macaron Series. The Vanilla from Nicaragua, the Orange from the Dominican Republic, and the Lemon from Honduras each reflect not only their terroir but also their place as after-dinner indulgences. These cigars are not mass-market creations but rather limited, personal projects from Guillaume’s estate, shared with Privada members as a reward for building culture and community. Only 1,000 of each flavor exist. No social media, no cigar company branding—just refined luxury, available to the few who understand that the best pleasures are quiet, rare, and savored slowly. Like a fine macaron, these cigars are not everyday smokes. They are celebrations. Flavor Journey Vanilla (Nicaragua): Opens with creamy coffee and roasted nuts, evolving into cedar and vanilla bean sweetness. The finish is smooth, balanced, and pastry-like—an ideal pairing for dessert or espresso. Orange (Dominican Republic): Bright citrus zest mingles with cream and hay. Almonds and soft spices follow, with a floral finish that recalls fine Dominican elegance. Lemon (Honduras): Tangy lemon peel and honey lead, supported by white pepper and buttery pastry notes. Oak and herbs provide depth, while the finish is light, refreshing, and unexpected. Why It Belongs in Privada Privada exists to bring members experiences they could never find on their own. The Patisserie Macaron Series is one of those gifts: a billionaire’s private collection, shared only because of our community. Each cigar reflects not just tobacco artistry, but culinary inspiration, bridging the worlds of fine dining and cigar smoking. With only 1,000 of each produced, they are as rare as they are refined.

Crafted as a 5.5×60 Habano Maduro and aged for three years, it embodies patience and precision. Its broad, sun-rich leaves were cultivated for depth and darkness, while the blend emphasizes volado and seco for refinement over raw strength. Where others lean on brute force, Hydrar speaks through elegance and restraint. Its complexity is revealed slowly, layer after layer, making it the most sophisticated and intricate of all Subterraneo blends. Like the animal it’s named after, The Badger commands respect not through aggression, but through quiet strength and persistence. Flavor Journey The first third greets the palate with dark chocolate, cedar, and roasted almond. As the cigar warms, sweet earth and dried fruit emerge, harmonizing with a subtle spice. In the final third, richness deepens while balance remains, leaving a smooth and memorable finish that showcases the rewards of age and careful construction. Why It Belongs in Privada Privada is about more than cigars — it’s about discovery, storytelling, and artistry. The Badger embodies these ideals, bringing forward a refined blend that highlights the underappreciated elegance of volado and seco tobaccos. With its unique balance and aged complexity, it stands as a symbol of what makes the Subterraneo series a masterpiece.

If the name sounds familiar, it should—Hostos is both the cousin of Terence Reilly of Aganorsa and the nephew of Manolo Quesada of Quesada Cigars. With a family lineage this rich in cigar heritage, Hostos took a bold step into independence, launching La Isla to craft cigars that combine tradition with modern flair. Privada was among the first to partner with La Isla, choosing this maduro blend from early test runs. The habano sibling cigar ended up in our playful “Cigars We Hate” program, but this San Andrés robusto was an instant love affair. Over 3 years of age have polished its flavors, showing just how serious La Isla is about quality. While other clubs rushed in later, we were first to stake our flag on the island—and Bonita Bonita Bonita remains one of the gems of that discovery. Flavor Journey First Third: Opens with a savory medley of salted popcorn, toasted almond, cream, vanilla bean, and fragrant cedar. Black pepper, cardamom, and delicate florals weave throughout, while the retrohale delivers subtle caramel, citrus brightness, and more florals over a cedar backbone. Second Third: Flavors deepen into stone fruits, stronger citrus, and a bouquet of florals. Umami elements emerge—brown sugar, browned butter, and a dash of vanilla—giving this portion a gourmand quality rarely found in a maduro robusto. Final Third: Peanut shell, honey graham, aged cedar, and cereal grains define the finale. White pepper tingles on the retrohale while bread and roasted notes close out the experience. A cigar full of dynamism, demanding patience and appreciation as it reveals layers of complexity. Why It Belongs in Privada Bonita Bonita Bonita is proof that Privada leads where others follow. Before La Isla became the industry darling, we were already placing Hostos’ work in members’ hands. This release is both a showcase of San Andrés maduro’s potential in Dominican craftsmanship and a testament to Privada’s commitment to finding brilliance before the rest of the world catches on. Aged over 3 years, it’s an introduction to the future of Dominican boutique cigars.

The Tight Draw Supreme was crafted over a year and a half at the legendary Montenegro factory, in the iconic Helado (“ice cream”) section known for producing some of the world’s most consistent and flavorful cigars. Built with an exceptional Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and a special Cuban-seed binder from Jalapa, this was designed to be a luxury release with an $18 price tag. But after aging, these cigars emerged with a draw slightly firmer than intended. For most companies, this would have meant a failed project. For Privada, it became an opportunity: a rare chance to smoke a $20-level cigar at a fraction of the cost. With a draw poker or an appreciation for resistance, the Tight Draw Supreme transforms into an elegant, flavorful experience — a lesson that perfection sometimes comes with quirks. Flavor Journey The first puffs introduce roasted coffee and cedar, steady and bold. As the cigar opens up, red pepper notes flicker across the palate, balanced by sweet cream and toasted bread. Midway, subtle cocoa adds depth, creating a profile that is rich without overwhelming. The finish is long, smooth, and quietly complex, rewarding patience and attention. Why It Belongs in Privada Privada has always been about finding value in rarity — not just expensive cigars, but experiences that can’t be replicated. The Tight Draw Supreme fits this perfectly: a boutique-level blend that would normally command triple its cost, offered here because of a small imperfection. It’s a reminder that discovery is what Privada does best.

All three cigars in the series share the same binder and fillers, yet Peace is wrapped in a classic Ecuadorian Habano leaf — a choice that immediately sets its tone. Peace is both contemplative and expressive, offering balance and structure while highlighting the artistry of blending. Its name is intentional: this cigar represents calm strength, a reminder that true power often lies in restraint and harmony. Flavor Journey The first puffs introduce cedar and roasted nuts, quickly joined by a touch of baking spice. As the profile develops, leather and dried fruit emerge, weaving complexity into the medium-bodied smoke. The final third adds cocoa richness and subtle sweetness, creating a smooth, reflective finish. Why It Belongs in Privada Privada is about education, exploration, and storytelling. Clark Thornton, a name familiar to many in the Privada family, discovered that his great-grandfather once ran a cigar company and shop in Erie, Pennsylvania called A.A. Brugger. From the early 1900s into the 1960s, A.A. Brugger was a staple of Erie’s cigar culture, celebrated for its dark, Pennsylvania-grown wrapper—the same broadleaf that would later rise to fame across the industry. Privada has recreated this lost legacy, resurrecting A.A. Brugger in a modern form while remaining true to its Pennsylvania roots. Where once Cuban filler was used, this remake now relies on Nicaraguan tobaccos, marrying American tradition with Nicaraguan boldness. The result is not just a cigar—it’s a living link to a family story and a tribute to American cigar history. Flavor Journey First Third: Chocolate syrup and creamy smoke hit the palate, layered with faint dried Italian herbs, oak, and white pepper. Retrohale delivers sharp white pepper, cream, and wood, while tropical fruit notes like banana and mango flash across the background. Second Third: The pepper evolves from white to black as cocoa deepens. Fruit becomes more pronounced, evoking chocolate-covered cherries. Cherry wood, cream, and minerals tingle the tongue, joined by fleeting tropical sweetness and rich tobacco undertones. Final Third: A crescendo of tropical fruit and creamy milk chocolate leads the way. Pineapple-like zest and mineral brightness pop against the backdrop of white and black pepper. Notes of firewood and oak ground the experience, closing with a bold and memorable finish. Why It Belongs in Privada The A.A. Brugger remake is more than a cigar—it’s a resurrection. By reviving Clark Thornton’s family heritage, Privada bridges cigar history with modern craftsmanship. This cigar embodies what the Privada movement is all about: uncovering lost treasures, honoring tradition, and reimagining them for today’s discerning smoker.
