Aireyys Victory Toro Gordo
Mike Edwards. World Champion Athlete, Gentleman, first black cigar brand owner in the United Kingdom. The first World Champion athlete to win a gold medal and take the podium with a cigar in his mouth. (see the post on www.spiritedsmoke.com to check out the picture) Mike is a smooth, well dressed, charismatic half Nigerian, half Jamaican man who started life in the UK and then moved to the states for high school and college before taking the world stage as a professional athlete. Mike competed for the University of Louisville and while in Kentucky learned about bourbon. Mike is a lot like his cigars. Well presented, lineal and decadent. His cigars range in price from $16-$34 for a single cigar. Mike also rolls cigars. If you purchased a cigar of his in the first year or two of the brand’s existence, Mike rolled it. No other club, or American shop has this cigar currently. Show Aireyys some love for hooking us up on Instagram @aireyys and leave a comment on the Spirited Smoke post. The cigar you are now holding sells for 25 Pounds or $34 USD.
Tasting Notes: On the body leather, honey and powdery chocolate. On the foot I get vanilla, roasted nuts and woods. The cold draw is roasted nuts and dried apricots. The whole thing reminds me of the super high end fragrances for men they sell at Nordstroms or Neiman Marcus. Very unique and luxurious. The first puffs are creamy milk chocolate, floral, white pepper and leather. As the cigar moves further in I get more of the same but there is a light orange note that fades in and out from puff to puff. There is floral, leather creamy salted chocolate and a dark oaky note. Oak, leather and cocoa. It’s creamy and somehow powdery at the same time. It’s basically like smoking chocolate mousse with s dash of white pepper, some leather and salt. Vanilla notes somehow find their way into the picture and the nutty notes come back. Floral notes are always in the background and the smoke leaves the tongue salted in a good way. The smoke remains the same but begins to remind me of a fine cappuccino with hints of spice, cocoa and sweet creamy smoke. Gorgeous.
Pairing notes: Cognac/Brandy/Aged Rum. Dark Chocolate, raisins, Raisinetts. Dark roast coffee. Root beer. Vanilla pudding. Seafood.
