Aireyys African Roots Available in UK only Toro
Mike Aireyys Edwards. World Champion Athlete, Gentleman, first black cigar brand owner in the United Kingdom. The first World Champion athlete to win a gold medal and take the podium with a cigar in his mouth. (see the post on www.spiritedsmoke.com to check out the picture) Mike is a smooth, well dressed, charismatic half Nigerian, half Jamaican man who started life in the UK and then moved to the states for high school and college before taking the world stage as a professional athlete. Mike competed for the University of Louisville and while in Kentucky learned about bourbon. Mike is a lot like his cigars. Well presented, lineal and decadent. His cigars range in price from $16-$34 for a single cigar. Mike also rolls cigars. If you purchased a cigar of his in the first year or two of the brand’s existence, Mike rolled it. No other club, or American shop has this cigar currently. Show Aireyys some love for hooking us up on Instagram @aireyys and leave a comment on the Spirited Smoke post. The cigar you are holding sells for 12 Pounds or $16 USD. This is a tribute to his African Roots.
Tasting notes: Upon lighting I get fresh caramel, pencil wood, crisp fresh cracked black pepper and the most beautiful tingling finish on the mouth and nose.It has a soft voluptuous body with sweet, creamy smoke that leaves the mouth feeling clean. Further in, I get more of the same yet herbs of oregano and lime zest. Later, eggnog, cinnamon, salt and caramel. Delicious! Ginger enters the equation. Gingerbread, pencil wood, cream, bakers spices and cinnamon on the retro. Nutmeg and lime zest appear again. Carmel remains dominant which is common of African tobacco. In the end I’m left with sweet gingerbreads, caramel, cream, bakers spices and notes of lime zest that come and go. Paring notes: Eggnog. Tapioca or rice pudding with cinnamon and white cream. A lowland single malt Scotch or any less peaty Scotch. Champagne- brut, not rosé. A wheat beer. Wheated bourbon. Fettuccini Alfredo. White Chocolate.
