BG Meyer Standard Issue 2014 release

$20.00

Tasting notes: Cream, roasted red peppers, citrus, bread notes, oak, Sweet Earth, red pepper and sea salt tang-damn I forgot how good this stick is! Finishes with Vanilla and Cinnamon

Brian’s notes: This was a hipster stick all the way and I’m pretty eccentric so I loved it. The branding was different for a cigar, eye catching. The flavors were phenomenal. The cigar burned a little warm but nothing crazy. I feel like this is a great example of how good a Nica Puro can be and it shows that how good your cigar is has nothing to do with how long you will make it in the cigar business.

Pairing notes: SCOTCH

BG Meyer Standard Issue 2014 release

When this cigar came out I was crazy for it. So crazy that we bought alot of them and stored them. The cigar originally came with a foot band and a plastic leaflet with the poem below written on it:

THE BREADTH OF A MAN’S SPIRIT RESTS IN HIS PASSION FOR ADVENTURE. A LIFE OF MERIT IS NOT MEASURED BY ACCOMPLISHMENTS, BUT RATHER THE ROAD TRAVELED TO GET THERE. FORGING YOUR OWN PATH. EMBRACING THE UNKNOWN IN THE SEARCH OF MEANING, EXCITEMENT, FULFILLMENT. THOSE SEARCHING FOR AN EPIPHANY & THE FREEDOM FOUND ALONG THE WAY. THE B.G. MEYER COMPANY CELEBRATES THIS JOURNEY. YOUR JOURNEY.

This is a dead stock cigar and a DAMN fine one at that. BG Meyer is no longer in business. This cigar is from the original release that Rob Weiss put out and affectionately named after his rottweiler. Rolled at the same factory Room 101 is rolled in Honduras. Rob wrote the HBO hit series Entourage which gives way to why such a lengthy poem would be wrapped around a cigar. This cigar was HOLLYWOOD all the way. I remember the ads. Cool hipster and a motorcycle and a hawk in the desert and an  old machine shop and a cigar and a match and blah blah blah. Then came the cigar. Scored a 92 on halfwheel..the only other sticks scoring 90+ on halfwheel at the time were limited release Tatuaje who they favored and super exclusive cigars that most of us could not find. So yea, I was paying attention. The other thought was about the fact that it’s a Nicaraguan Puro which in 2014 was such a buzz word. So yea we bought way too many of them lol. I removed all the poem bands and the foot bands for aging and misplaced most of them in one of my many moves around the country.
