HVC La Rosa 520 Maduro

Tasting Notes: I get a mint chocolate chip and luxurious leather on the body. On the foot I get cocoa and rich tobacco. On the cold draw there is a bit of pepper, roasted nuts and chocolate. Once lit I am greeted with red pepper blast. Underneath there are layers of chocolate and almonds. The smoke is powdery and has a sweet oak finish. As we progress to the second third, floral notes make themselves present along with more chocolate, leather and pepper of course. In the second third the power backs down and the cigar becomes more balanced. We see notes of oak, honey suckle, cinnamon and leather with spice. In the final third I get a ton of floral notes, sweet powdery smoke, espresso, dank woods white paper, oak and leather along with a salty finish. Show HVC some love on Instagram and spirited smoke @hvccigars and tell him @privadacigarclub sent you!

Pairing Notes: Nutella, Chocolate and peanut butter, roasted almonds, Frozen Cognac all the way (put it in the freezer), Light roasted coffee with cream and sugar, Flan, Carmel deserts, Seafood, Ice cold lager.

HVC La Rosa 520 Maduro

Reinier Lorenzo (pronounced RAIN-EE-EHR) has made a follow up to his HVC La Rosa 520 natural that scored a whopping 94 points recently. And guess what? We bought half of the entire production! So I guess we made the cigar rare…man I’m so proud of you. LA Rosa 520 was Reinier’s address in Havana, Cuba. He left Cuba about 8 years ago. Worked in a lab doing scientific work on embryos and started making cigars at the Aganorsa farm in his free time. Cigars are his sole focus these days. His line up includes some very modern takes on classic tobaccos. Full in body typically, HVC is an underground success about to go mainstream.
