Pier 28 Cigars Oscuro Rabito

Tasting Notes: Honey, wood and white toast on the shaft. Earl grey tea and wood with spice on the foot. Cold draw reminds me of an apricot fruit roll up with spice. First puffs are met with WASABI, my favorites spice! As the wasabi dies down the smoke becomes tangy, oaky, salty and the oak shifts to cedar on the finish. Into the first 3rd I keep getting a puff here and there reminiscent of a munchkin donut from Dunkin Donuts. The flavor starts to remind me of the cinnamon flavored munchkin but then shifts to the powdered sugar one. Oak is the dominant flavor and the wasabi spice is still there albeit far less. In the 2nd 3rd I start getting tea notes, that sugared donut note in sweetness, roasted macadamia nut and cinnamon. The spice has turned into a crisp white pepper. In the end I am left with a vanilla, oak, a deep cinnamon along with white pepper and a pleasant sour note. This is the best damn daily smoker you can find (that is, when you can find it!)

Pairing notes: Wheated bourbon, rum, Tripel Belgian beer, with a meal of turkey and gravy or a brick oven pizza, or a desert of powdered sugar with jelly donuts. Post and tag @pier28cigars on Instagram to show Time and his people some love!

Pier 28 Cigars Oscuro Rabito

Tim Wong is San Francisco born and raised. He grew up 6 blocks away from the famous Pier 28. A self proclaimed cigar nerd, Tim went to any cigar event he could find. One day he met the Torrano family, and somehow became their sales rep on the West Coast. Through the years Tim has worked for a bunch of other very reputable brands, learning and growing within the community. He even worked for Padilla but declined to say anything bad about him lol. Tim is a very nice guy. There came a point when he said to himself, I’ve worked the West Coast for everyone else, it’s time to work for myself. The brand is new. The cigars cannot be found anywhere except the one online retailer that trolls our club and bashes us, but even they ran out of stock. I called Tim and he told me that in the LA ZONA/SOSA Miami warehouse he had what we need! So here you are, holding in your hands, quite possibly my favorite daily smoker. P.S. In Chinese, the number eight brings success and when you pair it with the number 2 it brings things with ease…
