In a world flooded with generic blends and over-roasted beans from Brazil, Privada takes a different path. We source a coveted Guatemalan Single Origin from Huehuetenango, grown at elevations between 1,524–1,981 MASL, where cooler climates and rich soil produce extraordinary beans. Roasted in small batches and overseen personally by Ofelia and Brian Desind, each roast in this series is tailored to match a specific cigar wrapper and experience.
1. Connecticut Shade Roast – Light Roast
Best With: Connecticut Shade cigars
This is our most nuanced and delicate roast, crafted for the true connoisseur. Expect vibrant acidity and clarity with tasting notes like green apple, citrus blossom, white tea, and almond. It’s light but complex—best enjoyed through pour-over, French press, or drip to fully unlock its character. Not recommended for espresso. This is your coffee shop geek-out cup.
2. Habano Roast – Medium Roast
Best With: Habano-wrapped cigars
Sitting right in the middle, this roast strikes a balance of brightness and body. Tasting notes include stone fruit, milk chocolate, and toasted hazelnut with a touch of smoke. It’s versatile—great for drip, espresso, or press—and pairs beautifully with the spicier, fuller character of a good Habano cigar.
3. Maduro Roast – Dark Roast
Best With: Maduro cigars
This is where bold meets refined. While most dark roasts mask the bean with burnt bitterness, our Maduro Roast preserves the bean’s complexity. Expect a luxurious mouthfeel and flavor notes of molasses, dark chocolate, roasted walnut, and plum. It’s full-bodied and rich but never overwhelming. This is what dark roast should taste like—elevated, not scorched. Works beautifully in espresso or drip.
The Cigars
Each roast was developed alongside a cigar designed specifically for the pairing. The tobaccos remain consistent in the filler, but each cigar’s wrapper and fermentation profile is tailored to enhance the matching roast. These cigars are currently aging and will release in 2 months.

Great Coffee, Rich flavors. Because it’s so freshly roasted the fruitiness, nuttiness and deep chocolate flavors really stand out. It’s super smooth, not harsh at all. I really enjoyed this coffee! I’d definitely recommend for any coffee drinker.

Coffee lovers if you love coffee. If your a French press person or a pour over person and your enjoy making the perfect cup of coffee. This is for you. I have 2 of them so far and both are different but the same. Fruity woody aromatic . Make sure you have a grinder. I grind mine in the medium range for my pour over setup and my setup cost very little but the amount of joy this product brings is over the moon. But if you’re looking to try some Guatemala beans roasted light to medium hurry up and get it before their gone.
