Edgar Sued Monovarietal Corojo Edition PCC Aged 5+ Years

(6 customer reviews)

$10.00

Tasting Notes: I was reminded of a Tootsie Roll on the body, but there’s more to it than that. Rawhide, chocolate syrup, cedar, jasmine, and floral on the body. The foot is rich tobacco, Fig Newton, and chocolate. The cold draw is Fig Newton and chocolate. The first puffs start out with molasses sweetness, cedar wood sharpness, and damp earth. Further in there are berries like blueberry and licorice. Rounding the first their confectioner’s sugar enters the game. I also get rich, moist, brownie notes at times, while at other times it is more reminiscent of vanilla custard. The second third sees Christmas fruit cake-like notes with pine, cedar, prune, and cashew butter creaminess. Smooth, rich, and balanced flavors of baked fruits and chocolate graham crackers. In the final third, I get notes of that Christmas fruit cake, with reappearing chocolate. There’s cinnamon and cayenne on the tongue and retrohale. The end is vanilla custard and powdered sugar with crumbled hazelnut, butter, and herbs. JUST AMAZING.

Pairing Notes: Christmas fruit cake. Prunes. Chocolate graham cracker. Buttered rolls. Brownies. Light roast coffee. Pumpkin pie. Pumpkin beer. Pumpkin coffee. Vanilla custard. Bourbon. Wheat beer. Caramel.

Description

Edgar Sued. Dominican, born and raised. Tobacco is his only profession. After years of working under other master blenders like Chico Rivas, Edgar finally has his own factory. He has been patiently waiting to be introduced to the Privada Cigar Club community. Monovarietal edition cigars are made with one type of tobacco, using the same tobacco but from different parts of the plant. This is the Corojo edition. It is a Dominican Puro. It is extremely hard to get these kinds of flavors from an all Dominican cigar and this is why I decided to share this cigar with the club. This is another dessert flavored cigar. But this is a bit heavier than the Vault, so I recommend this for the afternoon. After lunch with something sweet. Treat yourself and indulge in some of the best flavors we will ever see in a Dominican Puro. It is extremely important to understand that Dominican blenders have to take a lot more time and use a lot more skill when working only with Dominican tobaccos. As you will notice when smoking the Puritos that we did a video for on youtube and have in our shop, most Puritos will be Nicaraguan cigars. It is arguable that most good Nicaraguan tobacco is so good you can simply put it with other tobaccos and get something at least good, if not great. With Dominican tobacco, this is not the case. Blending with Dominican is truly recipe-focused, and can take months to find the right combinations of tobaccos. That being said, when the blender gets it right, a Dominican Puro can do something that Nicaraguan tobacco cannot. It can offer flavor like no other and a sensation that does not leave the mouth fatigued. Edgar Sued is the next generation of master blenders with a passion and drive like no other. It is an honor to have him in the club.

A pleasurable smoke. I enjoyed mine on a crisp and sunny Sunday morning. The cigar performed as desired and did not distract from the beauty of watching the neighborhood’s wild animals get their day started.

  5. John Shea (verified owner)

I was disappointed with the strength and body level I find it a mild to medium cigar but I absolutely loved it as the flavours and burn and construction was insane I could not believe what I was smoking I just hope to god I have time to buy enough of these and everyone doesn’t snatch all these up it’s a sleeper. You get a great experience with this corojo because you get the classic characteristics of the corojo with the magical mind blowing flavours that you wouldn’t find in corojo.
