Hugo Endemaño is one of the least known names of modern-day cigar master blenders. Hugo has created masterpieces for all of your favorite brands, from Illusione, Padilla, Viaje, to Alec Bradley. Hugo is nuanced in style yet his tobacco is full in flavor and body, enough to satisfy the American palate. If you retrohale, you will find all of Hugo's work to be an adventure of the senses. Imagine taking a smooth but winding drive through the countryside during full bloom. This is where a cigar made by Mr. Hugo Endemaño can take you with each puff.
This cigar is a Honduran puro in a figurado vitola. When smoking a figurado I like to cut both ends as to not waste any time. It is a true joy to smoke. Pay attention to how the flavors of the cigar change as the curves of the cigar offer less than more than less tobacco again. What an experience.
In the first third, I am greeted by oak, black pepper, and leather. There are also mouthwatering mineral elements like salt and soil. Further in, hay, honey, apricot, and more black pepper, along with creamy oak await.
In the second third as the cigar becomes its larger ring gauge, I am still noticing oak, cream, and black pepper. However lime zest has entered the equation.
In the final third gears shift. Noticeably the black pepper has become cinnamon. The fruits become florals, and the oak gives way to a beautiful vanilla.
Cream soda, wheated bourbon, vanilla custard, graham crackers, champagne.
