In May 2019 the limited edition cigar of the La Sirena Aniversario Especial celebrated the company’s 10th anniversary. The success of the limited edition cigar inspired the new Mexican Mermaid. The blend is highlighted by a 5-year-old Mexican San Andrés wrapper sitting atop a Mexican San Andrés binder and a filler blend that includes tobaccos from Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The Mexican Mermaid sports an updated band design featuring the original La Sirena band with the colors of the Mexican flag.

This was a highly enjoyable smoke. A bit too much pepper and spice for my palate, but a beautiful thick and oily wrapper, smoke was sweet at times, and construction was perfect. Ash like a stack of quarters for every second of the burn. La Sirena Mexican Mermaid, box press toro.

It’s much too peppery for my taste as I’m not a big pepper fan. I was hoping for more nuance from the Mexican tobaccos but I think it’s a great choice for a full flavour kinda guy that would pair this with a strong beverage. I think you gotta try each size because each size tasted and smoked very differently
