Wrapper: Cuban Seed Habano Grown in Esteli Nicaragua
Binder: Cuban Seed Criollo Grown In Esteli Nicaragua
Fillers: Cuban Seed Nicaraguan Grown Corojo
Body: Forest floor tinder.
Foot: More tinder and chocolate.
Cold Draw: AGE. 10 years. Forest Floor. Fall raked leaves. Oak. Slight cocoa.
Tasting Notes: First third is oak, burning leaves, bright ginger, salt, red pepper, cream, and an overall campfire smoke that is just warming and perfect for this time of year. Where there would have been apricot, those flavors turned darker with age. It still has that Cuban twang but the oak and dark dried fruit like raisin take over. The sensation could not be better. Was this cigar aged too long? I imagine this would have been very similar to Privada Wraith flavors if it were younger…but this experience? This is pricelesss. Dark, fruity, smoky, woody, creamy, zesty and zingy all over..sign me up. Remember, the first third of an aged cigar is not going to be the best because a cigar ages from the foot….lets see what the second has to offer! Second third is where cinnamon enters the equation. Salt plays a big role. Dark Pumpernickel bread enters. The foliage thing, it is there and reminds me of burning leaves, no pun intended. This cigar embodies fall and winter. This is seasonal. I swear this cigar, last year at this time, was totally different. Molasses sweetness. Canadian Fall. That is what I would name this cigar. Final third is oak, salt, sweet molasses and the craziest retrohale ever along with creamy oaky smoke and a finish that is near perfect. This is the kind of cigar that cigar heads dream about. You may not love this the most but the experience is truly priceless. You know now what a 10 year aged Nicaraguan, Cuban seed cigar tastes like…grown by the best in Cuba!
Pairing Notes: Pancakes with syrup, highland and lowland scotch, canadian whiskey, frech style cuisine like shortrib braised in herbs de provence, dark aged rum, root beer.
