Tasting Notes: Off the body, I get a yeasty bread and fresh glazed donuts. Off the foot, I get dried fruit, mulch, leather, and Raisin Bran cereal. The cold draw gives me apricot, prunes, more bran type cereal, wheat bread and leather. There is also a noticeable natural cane sugar sweetness on the lips. The first few puffs gives me flavors of cinnamon sugar, yeasty wheat bread, Raisin Bran cereal, dark plum, black pepper and sweet almonds. The smoke is a velvety medium-bodied with a touch of earthy pepper grittiness. Retrohale brings out more cinnamon, natural cane sugar, roasted pecan, black pepper and cedar. That remarkable sugar sweetness still lingers long on the lips after each draw, fantastic! The draw flavor really starts to remind me of Krispy Kreme donuts about an inch or so in, and is damn near just as sweet. Sweetened breakfast cereal moves in as the middle third begins, along with delicious notes that sometimes reminds me of yeasty cinnamon rolls, sometimes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Sugar-coated almonds are also there on the draw, with a rich retrohale of breakfast pastry, white pepper, caramel, cinnamon and nutmeg. In the final third there is a change in the nut flavors, more of an emphasis on walnut now. Getting some pungent dry earth, savory rosemary, musty cedarwood, lime zest, subtle honey sweetness, salty peanuts, and shredded wheat. Lots of musty and nutty notes on the retrohale with white pepper, charred cedar, cardamom, almond, pecan and sweet natural tobacco. Awesome flavors, great draw, and spot-on construction, and just the right amount of strength. An excellent way to start my day!
Pairing Notes: Morning coffee with cream, cappuccino, caramel latte, green tea or chai spice tea, after breakfast pastries like cinnamon rolls, Danish or donuts. Bourbon, anything with pumpkin spice, be that muffins, pie, coffee drinks etc. After any sweet breakfast cereal.
