This was an amazing smoke. Was this number 25 of the test blends?

  2. Lloyd Harris (verified owner)

Loved this dark cigar, great with a deep roast coffee.

Pair with a nice red wine, it will draw out the hints of dark berries.

    Humidor time: 568 days
    Humidimeter reading: Head – 65, foot – 64
Appearance and construction: A few minor veins, a light sheen, and a moderately firm pack with no soft spots… Gave it a wide-ring punch and PLD was moderately open. (12/15)

Flavor: PLA gave a whiff of rich tobacco. The light gave a medium/full profile with a spicy retro and notes of black pepper, leather, spice, and a hint of charred meat. The spice in the nose faded just a bit with the other remaining consistent through the first third after which they mellowed somewhat with the spice receding and the charred meat disappearing almost completely. Very tasty, overall, with plenty of spice to keep things interesting. Strength was about medium. (23/25)

Smoking characteristics: The light produced an easy draw, good smoke volume, and an even burn to start. The burn was a bit wavy but self-correcting through the first third until it gradually got lopsided towards the end of the first third. I knocked the ash off at 2″ on the low side which would have left a cone if not for the lopsidedness. I gave it a touch-up post-ashing but it continued in a lopsided manner and got a 2nd touch-up at the end of the 2nd third after which it continued uneventfully down to the nub. Draw and smoke output remained optimal throughout. (19/25)

Overall impression: Pretty nice smoke from Mr. Stulac, this one, even with the needed maintenance along the way. Flavors were not far from my wheelhouse for a fuller smoke and the struggle factor was relatively low in spite of the necessary touch-ups. I’d smoke it again and probably will as I have another one. Don’t know as I’d buy anymore as these are a bit on the spendy side at north of $10 in the Privada CC shop.. (27/35)
