Privada Storytelling
The legend of the Mad Monkey lives on. Part Halloween folklore, part cigar mythos, it all began with Privada’s most theatrical video. Members know the tale: a rogue monkey haunting Nicaragua, looting bodegas, stirring chaos, and strong-arming master blenders into collaboration. The story goes that he confronted Tony Barrios of Stallone Cigars in an arm-wrestling match at Tabacalera Perla. Tony lost—quickly. His penance? To craft a cigar worthy of the Mad Monkey’s wild appetite, using only the boldest Nicaraguan tobaccos.
To make matters worse, the monkey is said to have raided the wrapper vault of Pepín’s nearby factory, absconding with precious leaves to crown this blend. With the monkey vanished, sightings whispered from Costa Rica to San Antonio, the cigars sat—waiting. Now, aged over three years, they emerge as proof of the madness and brilliance that comes from Privada’s unique marriage of theater and tobacco.
The Mad Monkey himself may be gone, but his cigar lives on. A creation born in chaos, aged into balance, and steeped in legend—this is Privada storytelling at its wildest.
Flavor Journey
First Third: The cigar opens with silky, medium-full smoke packed with graham cracker, chocolate chips, nougat, and sweet almonds. Marshmallow cream and cedar add balance, while the retrohale bursts with bright citrus, dried cherry, caramel, white pepper, and a toasted coconut aroma.
Second Third: Rich flavors of chocolate-covered cherry and coconut arrive, joined by playful phantom notes of banana Laffy Taffy. Coffee beans and cream meet red pepper spice, anchored by toasty cedar. The complexity builds layer by layer, playful yet deeply satisfying.
Final Third: The profile crescendos into moist banana spice cake, sugar cane, creamy dark chocolate, maple cream cookies, and chopped peanuts. Nutty flavors intensify—hazelnut, chestnut, almond—mingling with earth, coffee beans, and dry cedar. The retrohale sharpens with citrus and white pepper, delivering a rousing finale worthy of its legend.
Why It Belongs in Privada
No other club would dare craft and release a cigar like the Mad Monkey. It’s more than tobacco; it’s a Privada theater piece, a living myth wrapped in leaf. For members, this cigar proves that Privada isn’t just about access to rare blends—it’s about being part of a larger story. A collaboration with Tony Barrios of Stallone, aged three years to perfection, this cigar shows how Privada makes legends smokeable.
