Description
Introudcing AJ Fernandez Enclave Broadleaf: Sometimes it’s humbling when your father excels at your profession. For AJ and Ismael Fernandez, it’s a blessing that AJ wisely defers to his father’s expertise, even while leading the industry. Although AJ is the face of the brand, his father played a crucial role in creating the original Enclave, emphasizing flavor over power.
The latest edition of the Enclave continues this focus on flavor but introduces a touch of spice that has become popular among cigar aficionados. Enclave Broadleaf by AJ Fernandez features Nicaraguan filler and, for the first time, employs a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, resulting in a spicy finish with notes of earth, cedar, and black pepper. This is a fantastic cigar, deserving of a place in any enthusiast’s collection.
In August 2019, Enclave Broadleaf earned an impressive 93 points in Cigar Aficionado for its sweet and earthy profile, featuring cocoa powder, vanilla beans, and leather, with a robust finish. This full-bodied, full-flavored cigar showcases a rich Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and a generous blend of Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. Available in a variety of popular, well-crafted shapes, this cigar highlights AJ’s mastery of Nicaraguan taste.

Having already had the Enclave habano a few days ago I was expecting this to be a spicy smoke. The opening doesn’t disappoint. Very spicy, lots of black pepper. A cayenne heat left in my throat. Behind the spice I detect an oak flavour.
10 minutes in and the flavours have changed. Black pepper dominates the finish but I’m getting toffee on the draw.
The 2nd third picks up in strength and the strength does overwhelm some of the flavours. I’m getting a chocolate note in addition to the pepper.
The final 3rd is very woody and earthy. The strength is right up there.
The burn was perfect. The draw was tight and I had to double puff the first 2 thirds.
I personally prefer the Habano Enclave
