Description
Foundation El Güegüense marks the inaugural blend for Foundation Cigar Company, founded by Nicholas Melillo following his departure from Drew Estate. Inspired by Melillo’s passion for Nicaragua, the cigar’s packaging and bands pay homage to the renowned play of the same name.
This Nicaraguan puro features a Corojo ’99 wrapper and binder, along with a blend of Corojo and Criollo long-fillers harvested from 2011 and 2012. Further enhancing its profile, the blend undergoes additional aging in cedar before reaching the market, resulting in an elegant, complex, and harmoniously balanced cigar.
Prepare for a full-bodied indulgence as your palate is treated to a dance of cedar and spice with a subtle sweetness lingering in the background. Foundation El Güegüense promises a sensory journey that is as captivating as it is satisfying.

The first third starts off with a cinnamon and black pepper. I then pick up a woody cedar note and a slight zest as well.
About 15 minutes in the flavour develops into a roast coffee.
The 2nd third introduces a cocoa note to the mix. I then pick up oak notes before the flavour becomes a little muted. Toward the end of the 2nd third I’m getting lots of earth that has taken over.
The final third hits me with flavour. I’m reminded of a vanilla sponge cake. The flavour becomes spicy toward the end with lots of black pepper.
