Cold Draw: Oats, fresh-cut cedar, sesame and dried fruits. Some habanero pepper too!
Tasting Notes: So right off the bat, you get to see how a cigar truly ages like in fresh-cut cedar. It offers a bit of bitterness in a good way, a flavor that equates, for me at least, to sesame seed oil. Once the sesame seed oil wraps up, simple syrup, cedar, florals, and toast enter in. Further in the first third, orange rind, black pepper and cream are dominant. There is a flavor I cannot quite describe…tree oil? The retrohale is CRAZY on this one. Sweet creamy, woody, and sour/tart with a fruity menthol essence. The Second Third is sugar cane, powdery smoke, white pepper and toast. There are also marigold florals, cedar and eucalyptus along with the resurgence of sesame oil. The final third transitions from the sesame oil to notes of eucalyptus, cedar and bread crust. It ends with nutmeg, cola nut, cream, and white pepper and a cinnamon finish, which all remind of of a quintessential autumn dessert.
Paring Notes: Light roast coffee, oat milk and sugar optional. Kahlua on the rocks. Champagne. Chocolate covered peanuts. Chocolate covered raisins. After a steak, or with shrimp cocktail, oysters, or most seafood. Caramel square, an hour before smoking. Caramel popcorn. Thai food.
