Mighty 54 Aged 7 Years

$17.00

6×54

The Mighty 54 is more than just a cigar. It’s a story of brilliance, irony, and an homage to a nostalgic moment from 1956. Crafted by the now-renowned Chico Rivas, who skyrocketed to fame after joining the ranks of the Privada Cigar Club crew, this Dominican beauty pays tribute to a comical mishap of the Mighty Mouse balloon during the parade. Despite being famed for flying and being, well, ‘mighty’, that day, Mighty Mouse succumbed to the might of a mere street sign, providing spectators with an unexpected spectacle.

Diving into the cigar’s past, it’s a blend that Chico Rivas released in 2015, but with a catch: it was exclusively sold in the Dominican. It’s like a hidden track from a famous musician’s early days – raw, pure, and echoing of future greatness.

Description

Wrapper: Dominican
Binder: Dominican
Fillers: Dominican

Body: The initial embrace is of leather hide, delicately intertwined with slight floral notes.
Foot: A rich aroma of cocoa mingles with roasted chestnuts, elevated by a floral undertone.
Cold Draw: The unique zest of either horseradish or simple radish comes to the fore, supported by robust leather notes.

Tasting Notes: A bold journey begins with rich espresso, followed by dark chocolate and cedar. The sweetness of salted caramel contrasts with browned butter’s savory notes. The smoke? Creamy as ever. Retrohaling offers a spicy mix of black pepper, wood, and hints of allspice. For those with a penchant for the bitterness of dark chocolate, this cigar is a dream.

Delving deeper, the flavors evolve. Slightly dried fruits, notably raisin and apple, become evident, intertwined with cinnamon. Butter, dark chocolate, and cedar persist, with the creamy smoke becoming richer. Retrohaling now brings forward dried apple with a spicy blend of cinnamon and white pepper, concluded with root notes reminiscent of sarsaparilla. The grand finale is a flavorful medley of roasted walnuts, creamy smoke, and charred cedar. Notes of burned sugar and black pepper interplay, while root notes ground the experience. The unexpected twist? A horseradish retrohale, delivering sharpness, balanced with the bitterness likened to a finely brewed espresso.

Pairing Notes: With its rich and varied flavor profile, the Mighty 54 pairs well with dark roast coffees, aged rums with caramel undertones, roasted nuts, and, for those daring to recreate the parade experience, perhaps a rich chocolate mousse garnished with a hint of horseradish.
