Description
Wrapper: Connecticut Shade grown by Don Alman in Ecuador
Binder: Habano grown by Don Olman in Ecuador
Fillers: Especial
Body: I’m greeted with fermented apricot, floral notes, and a whisper of cocoa.
Foot: The essence of Cuban tobacco interlaced with cocoa, setting the stage for a story untold.
Cold Draw: A tale of apricot preserves, rich and inviting.
Tasting Notes: An opening salvo of sweet apricot jam and cedar immediately captivates, with creamy, pasty smoke that carries echoes of charred cedar, dried stone fruit, roasted almonds, and an ascension of white pepper. The magical concoction lingers, tingling the tongue with a promise of wonders yet to unfold.
As the narrative deepens, sweet almond and golden hay meld with cedar and florals, painting a picture of the motherland under a canopy of cream and white pepper, sun-kissed and serene. Notes of charred cedar and orange taffy dance on the tongue, a symphony of flavors in perfect harmony.
The journey culminates in a balanced beyond belief, a sweet, woody, and nutty crescendo with the peppery heat subdued; it’s an ode to the fruitiness in the retrohale, highlighted by hints of black pepper, oaky roasted nuts, apricot, and cedar. A narrative so compelling, it transcends mere taste.
Pairing Notes: Costa Rican coffee or a smooth, aged rum can elevate the sweet and floral notes, while a dark chocolate or a simple apricot tart might highlight the intricate blend of sweetness and woodiness. These pairings not only enhance the smoking experience but also pay tribute to the legacy of Don Olman Leon – a legacy of quality, community, and the art of living.

This is definitely one of my top 2 cigars (hard not to argue it being just #1) that I’ve had. The instant that I took a draw – my eyebrows raised, and I knew this was going to be something special and delicious. It did not disappoint. I smoked it until the very nubbiest of nubs. Fantastic!

Probably the best cigar I have had.
