Tony Barrios. Stallone Cigars. Here is a brand making a serious name for itself. Tony’s blending style is full body all the way. If you cannot retrohale, please learn. We have a video on the channel to help with this. And speaking of retrohaling, here is a retrohaler’s dream come true. Tony was down at Tabacalera Palma where he was accosted by the Mad Monkey about 8 months ago. After the monkey left the farm, Tony got to work on something he wanted to make specifically for the members of Privada Cigar Club. Honestly, I’ve never had someone just make the cigars without asking. I literally just got a call one day from Tony telling me the Privada Exclusive is ready. I was surprised and delighted. When we received them, the first thing I noticed was the cellophane with our logo which always tickles me. Something retro about it. Then comes the cigar itself. Que Bella! That gorgeous sheen and sumptuous box press. This thing is begging to be shown off. And wait until you read the blend on this. Wrapper: San Andres México, 8/9 priming, slow fermented by us and then aged 3 years. Binder: Burley Venezuela aged 5 years in ex rum casks! Filler: Nicaragua (Esteli, Ometepe & Jalapa!) Aged 4 years! Also the Ometepe aged in oak casks. Did you catch that? Is it any wonder I had trouble identifying flavors in this cigar? It is one of a kind. NONE of us have smoked anything like this before. Tony, thank you sir. What a treat!

Description

Tasting Notes: The body is vegetal, smokey, and has hints of barnyard, earth, and slight cocoa. The cold draw reminds me of pipe tobacco, cherry flavor, licorice, or both. The foot is chocolate and rich tobacco. Clouds of chocolatey, creamy, rich smoke. Rich tobacco notes. Slight licorice at times. Well fermented tobacco. Milk chocolate. Bread crust. And the retrohale of red pepper. BBQ jerky twang and meatiness. Teriyaki. Cinnamon on the retro. Teriyaki glaze. The second third is still glazed teriyaki but with toasted rye bread. Still some milk chocolate and salt. Retro is cinnamon spice. Smoke is a rich cream. There’s a zip to it, like a lemon with espresso. It’s so unique, I really don’t know what to say about flavors other than when they mend together like this, it typically means balance, and I must say it is well rounded. Apricot, chocolate, lemon. In the final third, the retro is chocolate, cinnamon, and oak. Smoke is still rich and creamy. Balanced flavors of cocoa, lemon, apricot, oak, earth, medium roast coffee, and some rye. Starting to remind me of pie, maybe pecan pie. Apple cider vinegar and vanilla in the end.

Pairing Notes: Rum. Chocolate-covered cherries. Chocolate-covered strawberries. Medium roast coffee, black but with sugar. Espresso with lemon. After pastrami on rye or a good Reuben on rye. After anything with fennel. Dried mangoes and banana chips. Almond Joy. Pineapple. Guava anything. Strawberry shortcake. Strawberry cheesecake. Bahama mama or any tropical drinks. Tropical anything.

What a rare find! This box pressed stick is all that and a bit more. I am a cinnamon lover, the hint of cinnamon was well received. It lit very easily and has a medium draw, the flavors just flow. The burn was very even from start to finish.

I have to say I could not wait for this to settle in my humidor, so hats off to Privada for delivery method, the Bovada bag did the trick it would seem.

Very nicely done Stallone and Privada Cigar Club!
