Privada Storytelling
Plasencia’s Year of the Horse — officially called El Año del Caballo — gallops into 2026 as one of the most ambitious entries in the brand’s Chinese Zodiac series. Created to celebrate strength, grace, and forward motion, this Parejo Gordo stands tall at 7 x 58 and arrives with a striking braided tobacco cap designed to resemble a horse’s flowing mane.
This release is more than a cigar; it’s a piece of craftsmanship that demands attention. Plasencia’s artisans hand-braid the cap using a third roller and then seal it with a dual pañuelo wrap so it retains integrity and visual impact. The result is a smoke that looks as impressive as it tastes — an heirloom-quality creation built for collectors, special occasions, and humidor showcases.
Like the horse it commemorates, El Año del Caballo carries energy and elegance in equal measure. Its broad ring gauge and rich blend invite slow, deliberate smoking — a journey of flavor and heritage that mirrors the Plasencia family’s multigenerational commitment to tobacco excellence.
Flavor Journey
This cigar opens with creamy cacao and soft florals on the draw, leading into a core of toasted wood and roasted nuts that ground the profile. Warm earth and spice introduce complexity as sun-dried fruit notes weave through the smoke. The finish lingers with balanced strength and elegance — a testament to the blend’s depth and Plasencia’s meticulous construction.
Why It Belongs in Privada
Year of the Horse is a celebration of craftsmanship, rarity, and legacy — core elements of Privada’s ethos. It isn’t a run-of-the-mill release, but a collectible experience built with artistic intention and premium tobacco sourced and aged by the Plasencia family. Its distinctive braided cap, limited production, and balanced profile make it an ideal addition to any serious humidor.
Production Notes
Handmade in Nicaragua using an organically grown Nicaraguan Jalapa wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and a blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers. Each cigar is finished with a hand-braided tobacco tail that requires twice the production time of a standard cigar cap and careful humidity control to preserve its integrity. Only 6,000 boxes of ten were produced worldwide.
