The Zaino Broadleaf Aged 3+ Years was born from hard-fought negotiations between Tony and Privada. At first, the deal seemed doomed—Tony wasn’t sure what Privada was about, and I wasn’t sure he understood our mission. But after stepping back, we came together, and this Broadleaf treasure finally made its way to the club. It’s paired with its sibling, the Castaño San Andres, but Zaino stands tall as a powerhouse on its own. A cigar for the bold smoker, it’s unapologetic in its strength yet balanced with a sophistication that reflects Tony himself.
First Third: Sweetened chocolate and raisins collide with leather, earth, and sharp red pepper. Cedar dominates the mouthfeel, transitioning into oak on the finish. Yeast, bread, wood, chocolate, and floral pepper dance across the palate.
Second Third: The smoke mellows, dark and sweet like chocolate-covered cherries. Leather, wood, and black pepper persist, joined by dried peach, sugar, and cocoa. Bread and salt add depth, while the creamy texture builds.
