Tasting Notes: On the body, I’m getting saddle leather, barn, cocoa, something like the opening of a barnyard door. On the foot, chocolate-scented oil!! The cold draw is sesame seed, chocolate, wood, walnut, cocoa powder, and black pepper spice on the lips. As I Light, the scent reminds me of roasting a marshmallow fireside. On the first third, I’m picking up on sesame, cocoa, walnut wood, earth, and white pepper on retrohale. Now sweet chocolate, wood, and leather. The retrohale also has baking cocoa powder. A certain nut butter creaminess. Dried tart fruits like dried mango, dark berry, like blackberry or black cherry. Black cherry syrup. Bitter wood on the finish in a good way. A dry sesame seed oil comes in and out. Candied citrus. Little rectangle sesame seed candies…honey…charcoal…like charred wood. Toasted almond! Tanned leather! Candied dried fruits. Without retrohaling, it’s sweet, dark, woody, and tangy. There’s a bitterness but it’s the sesame again. About an inch in, florals start to introduce themselves. Raspberry syrup. Leather all day! Smoke texture like olive oil…Olive oil! Amazing. Bright and fruity with a slightly bitter finish. Orange!

The second third is a lighter wood, like cedar. Freeze-dried raspberry. Sesame seed oil. Olive oil. Flowers. Dark chocolate. Rosemary. Animal fat? Animal flesh? Pork? Or chocolate and wood… an almond phantom flavor on the retrohale. Charred wood. Sweetness. Charred oak. Fruit syrups. Cocoa. Started super dynamic, and then settled into a nice flavor profile. The final third is ginger, florals, woods, candied ginger, oak, charred oak, delicate white florals.

Pairing Notes: Cognac. Craggenmore or a Speyside scotch. Toasted Walnuts. Black cherry soda an hour before smoking. Dried fruits. Dark chocolate. Dark roast coffee with sugar or cafecito/espresso with sugar. Lager. Root beer. S’mores. Marshmallow. Sesame seed candy an hour before. After Chinese food.
